Happy Easter!
On Good Friday our team has not only renewed the yellow circuit, they also re-completed the pink, mint and the orange circuits. If you’d still like to try the DBIYO qualification boulders you can! There are still 12 left, but not for long so give them a try asap!
Easter Monday, 1 April, we open at 9h instead of 12h. This gives you the opportunity to boulder before spending quality time with the family during Easter brunch. Happy Easter!

CANCELLATION db9XL
We have looked into various options for realising a db9XL, but resetting the main wall for the finals and putting up the stand in the middle of the gym simply takes some hours. There’s hardly an hour unused on Saturday. And organising a shorter edition of the DBIYO with you leaving the gym with that feeling that you might have topped that one boulder if only the bouldering time hadn’t been that limited…..well, that’s not the kind of competition you’ll remember fondly.
We’ll do our utmost to maintain some qualification boulders up and until Wednesday. And we appreciate your understanding. Will you still tune in of Saturday or Sunday via the livestream on our YouTube-channel?

db9 XL Sa 23 March
All details re. the db9XL can be found on the special page.
You need to register on beforehand, via good old Toplogger. Number of participant spots is limited.
As of 13.30h you’re welcome in the gym. Until then the gym is exclusively open for competitors of the DBIYO. The db9XL starts at 14h so you’ll have enough time for warming up.
Don’t miss this unique chance as the gym closes at 18.30h being the moment those qualification boulders are taking down to be replaced with the boulders for the finals.
And did we mention there’s a raffle while you wait for the results thanks to La Sportiva?

new joint venture: Hoeve Biesland
This cooperation doesn’t stop there. The cookies we serve with our hot beverages are also baked at Hoeve Biesland, just like the carrot cake we’ll be serving in the weekends.
So, after joining up with Ipse de Bruggen for our applepies we now have a 2nd joint venture. Produced locally, biological and tastefull….what’s there not to like?
Eventually we will put other products of Hoeve Biesland on our menu. Fresh baked oat cookies for instance to replace the current stroopwafels, and the veggies for our pizzas. Our team has the heavy task of testing products before we decided which products we’ll be serving you. Have mercy on them ; )

In the weekend of 23 and 24 March we’re organising the 5th edition of the DBIYO, the Delfts Bleau International Youth Open. This competition for the youth (U14 up and until U20) includes qualifications on Saturday and finals on Sunday. Only competitors can boulder during this weekend, but….you can too! More information will be published on our website.
Due to the preparations of the DBIYO the gym will be closed on Friday 22 March. Please note this as well. We’re looking into an alternative service for all our subscription holders for this comp weekend.

Happy New Year!
Please note in your agenda: the next db9 is scheduled for Friday evening 9 February!
And in March, to be precise, on 23 and 24 March, we organise the 5th edition of the DBIYO. A lustrum which we’ll combine with a db9 XL on Saturday afternoon 23 March. Please note this too in your agenda.
Several changes have impact per January, whether we like it or not. Costs keep rising, from rent to energy, from salary to taxes on beer and beverages. Unfortunately this has impact on our prices. The entrance fee will rise per 1 January, as will subscription fees. Prices of beer and beverages will rise a bit later, we’ll have to wait for the new pricelists of our suppliers. The fees for the current subscription holders will rise per 1 February. They will receive an information mail early January including some new benefits.
Bare in mind: if you purchase a 10x card before 1 January you save yourself €9. There’s no end date on a 10x card, you can buy even 2 or more should you like to save money.
If the rise of the subscription fee disables you to continue bouldering, please contact us. For years we’ve been connected to the Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur This fund enables kids under 18 to enjoy sport. The city council of Delft is in the midst of setting up a new fund that will enable adults of 18 and 18+ to enjoy sport as well. We’ve already signed up, as soon as this fund is active you can apply. Don’t hesitate to ask us for help.
And then there is the new law on paper cups. The government had decided to ban all paper cups per 1 January, whether or not you have joined a recycle program (as we have). It’s not yet sure if this law will be applied per 1 January as the discussion within the Tweede Kamer is ongoing. We are currently investigating alternatives. If you’re already customed to bring your own cup to your work or Uni, feel free to do so at your favourite gym too.
We’re looking forward to seeiing you quite a lot in 2024!

Bouldering with headphones
More often we see people wearing earbuds or headphones entering the gym completely unaware of their surroundings. There’s hardly any contact upon registration and no response to questions from our staff member. At this point the staff member will kindly request to put out/off the music device with the remark that bouldering with earbuds or headphones is not allowed.
Sometimes this remark is ignored, sometimes someone is unaware of this restriction and puts the earbuds in after changing clothes and starts climbing with them. There have been moments already that climbers with earbuds caused a risky situation or bothered other climbers completely unaware whilst listening to a podcast or music. Due to these reports by other climbers we are more alert for these situations and we have noticed that it’s sometimes quite hard to get in touch with those climbers. After calling someone a couple of times, without getting any response, we touch someone on the shoulder. Hilarious as it may seem, sometimes the climber makes as he/she is completely in his/her own world and didn’t see/hear the staff member at all. The moral of the story: be aware of you surroundings and don’t put yourself nor other climbers to any risk by shutting yourself of of the outside world. Wearing of earbuds or headphones is not permitted whilst bouldering.
During warming up, cooling down, exercising on the hangboards etc. it is perfectly fine to use your earbuds.
Do you want to use noise cancelling earbuds because you’re overstimulated? Or because you’re recovering from a burn-out f.i.? Unfortunately it’s not visible for others what you’re wearing and why, and therefore it becomes unclear who gets to wear them and who don’t. However, what we can offer is looking for a better, more quiet moment for you to boulder.
If the gym is not yet busy, right after opening hours on Mo – Th we’re happy to adjust the music incl the volume as long as you make this request clear at the bar upon entry. This also gives us an insight in the number of people with this request which will enable us to look into the options for organising special hours. Special hours with soft music, low volume, no noisy clinics and overstimulated people like yourself.
So, if you would benefit from such moments please indicate this at the bar. For now we advise you to come in the early hours after opening (12-14.30h) Mo – Th, or Saturday morning during yoga class.

Bouldering during the Christmas holidays
The gym closes a bit earlier on Sunday 17 December, at 17h. That evening we take all our teammembers our for Christmas dinner. The gym is closed on Christmas Day as well as on Boxing Day, but on Wednesday 27 december we open the doors at 10h instead of 12h.
Thursday 28 and Friday 29 December you’re also welcome as of 10h. During the Christmas Holidays there are no setting days, which means we can open both Fridays (29 Dec and 5 Jan) at 10h instead of 16h.
New Years Day is a closing day too, we re-open Tuesday 2 January at 10h and that’s the opening moment the rest of the weekdays. During the weekends the regular opening hours apply.
Do you plan to visit us for the first time with your family? In the first week of the Holidays (27 – 29 Dec) there’s an instructor available from 11h till 13h to give you some extra guidance. All you need to know about bouldering with kids can be found here.
We wish you a Merry Christmas!
