COVID-19 / Coronavirus

Update 15 March: The Dutch Government has decided today all sports facilities have to close as of today 18:00 up and until 6 April. Of course this means we will be closing our doors today at 18:00 and will open on Tuesday 7 April  at 13:00 at the earliest. We will keep you updated on the developments! In the meantime stay healthy!

The Dutch Government has announced today (12 March 2020) all people with flue or flue-like and/or other mild health problems should stay home and avoid all social contacts until they are completely well again. Furthermore all events with over 100 participants are to be cancelled, these new measures are in place at least until April 1st.

All this also has it’s impact on Delfts Bleau. At busy times we surpass the number of 100 people inside the gym. We expect things will get (a lot) more quiet now and we probably will not reach this numbers anymore, but we will be keeping an eye on the number of people inside to make sure we stay below this (or any updated) number of people, but we will stay open (for now). There’s a chance you’ll have to wait a bit before you’re allowed in if you arrive at a busy moment. Please consult Google Maps for the busiest hours.

We take the corona virus very serious. Although most customers climbing in Delfts Bleau are fit and healthy people, we do take some precautions to prevent the virus from spreading. We follow the guideline of the RIVM and ask for your cooperation:

  • Don’t come bouldering if  you have a (mild) cold or flue-like symptoms. Sore throat, blocked nose, sneezing, couching? Please stay home if you experience any of this.
  • If you’re not allowed to go work or university because of the RIVM regulations, you cannot boulder either.
  • Don’t come bouldering for at least two weeks if you have visited one of the risk areas in The Netherlands or if you have been in contact with persons infected.
  • Pay via contact free pin.
  • Wash your hands utterly wel before and after bouldering.  It goes without saying you always wash your hands before and after going to the toilet.
  • Avoid contacting your mouth, eyes, nose with your hand(s) during bouldering.
  • Avoid physical contact.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly when you take a bite or a drink in between bouldering.
  •  You need to sneeze or cough? Please do so in your elbow, but not in your hands or even your chalkbag. Should you show symptoms we’ll have to ask you to end your bouldering session and to go home.

We all have to be precautious. The next things will differ from what you’re used to:

  • No candy jar.
  • No rental chalk bags.
  • No woodstoks/brushes. You can still use your own but don’t try to blow of all the chalk okay?
  • No cookies with your coffee or tea.
  • No pizzas.
  • No water cans with fresh herbs & fruit on the bar. Please bring your own bottle (and don’t forget to take it back home to wash it).

Despite all the effort the coronavirus could still be spreading. The Government can therefore still decide to take extra measures which may very well effect our gym. Effects you could think of are opening hours, staff, cancellation of trainings and even closing of the gym. We do our utmost keeping up to date via the City Council, the GGD and the RIVM and will keep you informed via this website and social media.

Help putting a stop to this virus and do whatever you can, however small. Stay safe!

FOR NOW WE ARE (STILL) OPEN!

COVID-19 / Coronavirus: DBIYO is postponed!

The new health safety measurements of the RIVM also have impact on your daily visit to the gym. There will be a maximum of 100p present at the same time in the gym, so we’ll have to figure out a way how to secure this asap.

Please follow up on all health safety instructions. Stay home if you don’t feel well, or if you’ve come down with a cold. Stay safe, stay healthy,

Bleau Yoga and extra opening hours

You can now join the Bleau Yoga training on a Saturday that suits you best. Just put your name on the sign up list in the gym and register that date in your calendar. You simply pay per training. The timeslot hasn’t changed: Saturday 10.15-11.45h. You can bring your own yoga mat and blocks but you don’t have to. The sign up list can be found on the front side of the mens changing room, next to the list for the sport massage.

Thanks to the flexibility of our holds cleaning team we’re able to open at 13h on Thursdays as of March. The taking out of the circuit that’s to be refreshed that week is rescheduled to the morning. As soon as the mats have been cleared and the walls have been vacuumed we will open the doors at 13h. Friday will remain our setting day due to which we cannot open earlier than 16h. But still, there are 3 extra hours of bouldering each week!

Do you like to boulder in the peace and quiet? Try to visit us in the early afternoon. Monday up until Thursday we’re open early and until approx. 15.30h you have to share the gym with very few other. Ideal if you work in health care, catering or continous services! On Tuesdays it’s very busy between 17h and 19.30h, on Fridays between 16h and 19h. Please try to avoid these timeslots and schedule your boulder session a little earlier or later. There’s always Google to consult about busy hours!

Bigger trainingsarea

We started the new year with a reorganisation and extending of our trainingsarea. TRX, wooden balls, wooden rings etc. have been transferred in order to free up the Moonboard. Within a fortnight the rubber floor tiles will be placed underneath the new fitnesscage. As soon as those tiles are there we will add a dumbell station to the area.
Furthermore the fingerboards will be moved to the fitnesscage as well. This results in 3 training areas: campusboards, Moonboard and TRX/strength. The new fitnesscage is perfect for your dynaband exercises as well.

Please not: all the training areas can be used if you’re 18 or older. Our youth trainers will use the area with our youngsters for exercises, under supervision.

Happy New Year!

We have a lot of plans for 2020. Such as? Well, as soon as we’ve found extra staff we will realise extra opening hours. Should you know someone – fluent in both Dutch and English- who’s looking for a full time job (32 hrs), please let him/her contact us asap!

For those longing for bouldering when it’s rather quiet: try the afternoons on Monday and Tuesday. Enjoying your somewhat private boulder session in these afternoon helps improving crowd control of which others will benefit as well. Everybody happy!

What have we scheduled for Q1? We start with a db9 on Friday 17 January (entry as of year of birth 2005). As the stronger competition climbers are most likely to join the national competition Boulder 2 on Saturday 18 January we will set a little a little more gently for this db9. This surely doesn’t mean you’ll have less fun, au contraire!

On Saturday evening 8 February the Dutch Bleasard Bart van Raaij will give a good old fashioned slide show to illustrate the history of climbing as he has experienced it. This will be in Dutch, so you better start practising your Dutch as this is a once in a lifetime show.

In the weekend of 28 and 29 March we organise the 3rd edition of the DBIYO (Delfts Bleau International Youth Open) for the international youth JAB. We’re happy to hear that the event not just appeals to the Dutch and European youth, but to the Canadians as well. Coaches all over Europe are busy organising trips in order to enable their A and B selection teams to join. As you’ll appreciate non-competitors cannot boulder themselves during that weekend but are very welcome to come and watch the competition. We do have a solution for everyone with a subscription: upon showing your card you get a free boulder session at Bolder Neoliet in Rotterdam.
And, together with the Routesettersteam (Jacky Godoffe, Christophe Cazin & Michiel Nieuwenhuijsen) we’re currently looking into the option of organising a db9 XXL on Saturday 28 March. This depends on many factors such as the number of DBIYO competitors, the time required for setting the final boulders on the main wall, the time the constructors of the stand need etc. Would you love to participate in this db9 XXL edition? Would you be disappointed if you’d only had 3 hours to enjoy this db9 XXL (stand constructors need to start at 20h). Tell us!

And last but not least we have good news for those who are rather new to the bouldering competitions. The pilot for Boulder Series for adults starts on Friday 20 March. Monk Bouldergym Rotterdam will do the kick-off. The 2nd edition will be hosted on Friday 17 April by De Campus in The Hague and we’ll host the 3rd one on Friday 15 May. The Series will continue in the fall with competitions at Bolder Neoliet Rotterdam, Kunststof Leiden and Beest Boulders in The Hague. More information will be available in time, but you better start training! There’s a Bleau Technique Training starting in Dutch in 2 weeks time, and should you like to attend an English one be sure you put your name on the list. As soon as we have 4 attendees we’ll organise a Bleau Technique Training in English. Do you lack flexibility and/or power? Be sure to join Bleau Yoga that starts Saturday 4 January (3 spots left). Wouldn’t you like to start 2020 fit and strong?

Are you looking forward to 2020 as much as we do?

The gym opens at 10h, the competition starts at 11h and will end at 13.30h.

Do you intend to boulder yourself on Saturday 5 October? Please schedule your boulder session in the afternoon. If you like to keep your regular routine and like to boulder in the morning, please accept the fact that not all boulders will be available and make sure you’re not blocking the competition boulders for the youngsters.
