Delfts Bleau

Tugrul hopes for a future without dialyse, not just for his own sake but for all kidney patients whose life depends on dialyses. He therefore started the fundraise Climb Against Time to raise money for research on artificial kidneys. Tugrul challenges everyone to join this fundraise. Walk, bike, run, climb….do something! During weekends, your holiday, it doesn’t matter when or where, just join the fundraise!

The fundraising event starts officially 15 May with Tugrul first ascent of his mission to climb 41 tops of 4000m in 1 season. As he’ll leave for the Alps on 11 May we have the kick-off of Climb Against Time scheduled for Friday 9 May in Delfts Bleau.

Thursday 8 May we’re setting the (almost 10m high) speed wall and on Friday 9 May (as of 17h) & Saturday 10 May (as of 11h) you can give the speed wall a go yourself, and by doing so contribute to the fundraise. The wall has not the official height but does have the official speed route including the official Olympic holds + time registration + top touchpad + autobelay. It’s almost as real as it’s going to get. You get to experience what speed climbing is. It might look simple if  you see a pro running up that wall in less than 10sec, but in fact it’s a tough discipline. Reaching the top is not obvious, and doing so in less than a minute neither. The speed climbing route (based on the official length of 15m) is a 6b lead, our orange circuit, compared to bouldering (Fontainebleau rating). The route is lengthwise not suitable for children under 12yrs.

Convince friends and family to sponsor you for €5 reaching the top. Even if  you can only find 2 sponsors you’ll contribute €10! What if you can find 10 sponsors?

What are the costs for speed climbing you ask? Well, 1 run costs €1, 6 runs cost €5. Subscription and 10x card holders get 2 runs for free (so 3 runs for €1 and 8 runs for €5). All fundings go to Climb Against Time as well.

Should you have your own harnass please bring it with you, it’ll safe time in switching users that use our harnasses.

After closing at 18h we’ll transform the gym in order to host 2 dance companies, both will perform twice. You can watch Danstheater Rorschach (19h and 21h) and
Bo Jacobs & Claire de Caluwe (20h and 22h).
Tickets are available via Delft Fringe Festival only.

There will be other shows in/around the Kabeldistrict that evening. You can organise your cultural evening out via this program.

Regular Friday opening hours on Good Friday, Friday 18 April. We’ll reset a circuit (mint) as you’re used from us and open at 16h. No changes there.
Monday 21 April, Easter Monday, the gym is open from 9h to 18h.
The gym is closed on Saturday 26 April, Koningsdag (Kingsday).

Liberation Day, Monday 5 May, is a bank holiday too this year. The gym is open from 9h to 18h.
These same opening hours apply on Thursday 29 May, Ascension Day as well as on Monday 9 June, Whit Monday (9h-18h).

This year the Kabeldistrict will host several performances of the Delft Fringe Festival. Delfts Bleau will most likely be a performance location for 2 different shows, one on Saturday evening 7 June and one on Sunday evening 8 June. As soon as we have more details we put up a post with the details.

Currently there are less boulders in the gym as we need to make room for the 30 qualification boulders for the competitors. All boulders removed from the main wall will be put back as they were Tuesday 1 April at the latest. The boulders that have been removed througout the gym will be replaced by new ones.

Thursday 27 March the gym is closed for competitors of the DBIYO, all other customers can boulder during the regular hours.
Friday 28 March the gym is fully closed.
During the qualifications on Saturday 29 March and the finals on Sunday 30 March only competitors are allowed to climb.
Come over to watch the competition, it’s going to be a great event! There’s a big stand on Sunday which enables everyone a good view on the finalists. You can check the schedule here.

Can’t join us live? Tune in on our YouTube channel where we’ll broadcast live during the weekend. Commentators on the finals are our local George Lim and IFSC-commentator Matt Groom.

On Valentine’s day we organise a special DB9, for the love of bouldering and boulder competitions. There’ll be side-events such as a photo booth to have your polaroid picture taken, you & your loved one/BFF/Best Boulder Buddy. At the end of the competition we choose the loveliest picture and reward the photographed duo with a lovely price.

There’ll be a love wall where you can leave a message for your (secret) Valentine (so make sure he/she/them is invited!). Everyone bouldering in a lovely Valentine outfit competes in the Loveliest Dressed Competition.

Exited yet? It promises to be another unforgettable DB9, also because of the live dj’s with lovely tunes. The Friday evening competition is open for U17, U19, U21 and U21+.

On Saturday 15 Feb, 10-12h, there’ll be a kidsedition for U11, U13 and U15. The boulders will be adjusted on their size and after this competition the adjustments will be made undone so everyone else can give them a try (as of 12.30h). Almost all DB9 boulders will be removed on Sunday evening 16 February, so don’t miss this!

Also worth pencelling down in your agenda: the 3rd DB Pubquiz on Saturday 1 March. Just like the previous edition we’ll have max 14 teams (with max 4p per team). Gyms opens at 19.15h, Pubquiz starts at 19.30h. Costs: €7,50 pp incl 2 tokens for beverages. For an extra €5 pp you can enjoy a vegetarian snack platter. After the DB9 weekend you can sign your team up, so keep an eye on our socials and on the website!

And last but most certainly not least: the 6th edition of the Delfts Bleau International Youth Open (DBIYO) is scheduled for Sa 29 and Su 30 March. The event is open for registration and over 100 participants from 10 different countries already have signed up! The comp is open for participants in the categories U15, U17, U19 and U21. The gym, including training facilities, changing rooms etc will close the doors at 19h.
By closing a bit earlier all our staff can join us in time in the restaurant.
