All boulder areas have been closed and according to the current information this will remain so for at least another 2 weeks. This does also apply on all the roads crossing the boulder areas in order to give the fire department full access. If you have plans to visit Fontainebleau this summer, please make sure you check with your airbnb/gite host or the campsite if it’s really safe to go. First visit or second visit to the gorgeous forrest? Please check the site Fontainebleau Rules in order to prepare yourself on ethics and rules in the area.
It will take several years for the forrest to recover. At this moment it’s not yet clear if, and if so which, boulders are damaged. However, there is a local crowdfunding via which you can donate to help recovering the area. The site is set up in both French as English. Donations as of €1 are welcome. Thank you!
